Customer Review: A good, solid grill

Have had this grill for 5 years. In that time, it was used daily...sometimes twice or thrice. Sadly, it bit the dust just a few days ago. I contemplated about buying the same one, but in the end opted for a Breville model instead (comes with interchangeable plates. Some grooved, some smooth).
Things I noticed in its 5 years of use:
1. The plastic top on all the sides began to bubble and flake off
2. The non-stick coating began to flake off
3. Just a few months ago the timer knob busted and fell off. But, it could still be used as long as one was careful turning it.
4. Just a few days ago, the timer no longer works. Only way to now use it is to plug it in for it to be on, and unplug it for it to be off. This is just a bit too dangerous for us, in case we would forget to unplug it, so it's time for a new one.
Even though I'm going with a different model this time around. This little guy was still a good, solid model, and am very glad I had it. I still would recommend it. And for the price, it's hard to beat! It heats up perfectly after a 5 minute warm-up period, cooks food evenly and thoroughly. I'll probably keep this one around as a back up if anything happens to the new one, or if I need to grill more food.

In. grilling surface opens flat to a 216 square inch double grill. Compact upright storage. A recipe booklet makes that clear, and even shows how a version of beef stroganoff can be prepared between the grill's top and bottom cooking grids in minutes. When the whole family sits down for a meal, or hungry friends turn up, the top opens flat, doubling the cooking surface to 216 square inches. (Each grid's effective cooking surface measures about 12-1/2 by 7 inches; closed, the grill--made of hard, bright, black plastic--measures 16-1/2 by 13 inches overall.)
